Nasira Begum, a name that you are probably not all too familiar with. That is because, this name has been shelved in the archives of anti racist campaigns of the by gone years. So much so, that the name has become unknown to the ordinary person. Do a little digging and you will find that this campaign was the campaign to set all immigration campaigns into action. 

Nasira was a Pakistani woman who had been deserted in England by her British husband. The legal quagmire presented by the Home Office meant like a lot of similar cases she was classed as an 'illegal immigrant'. 

The Home Office is synonymous in being unsympathetic to the cause of failed matrimonial cases. In fact it was and still is unsympathetic to the way it treats family cases. This campaign paved the way for many other immigration case campaigns to gain momentum. 

Without divulging too much suffice to say the case was successful and Nasira remained in Britain.
